ANIMALS-DOMESTIC VIOLENCECompanion Animal Rescue Effort Forum Sept 28 11am-12n 3701 Carlisle Blvd NE Memorial Hall Animal Protection New Mexico, dedicated to protecting animal rights, has compelling programs to advance the overall well-being of our communities. Animal Protection of New Mexico’s Companion Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) program is a network of safe havens for the animals of domestic violence victims in New Mexico. CARE empowers individuals to leave abusive environments by providing temporary housing for companion animals, livestock and exotic animals. At this forum we will explore how to recognize and safely report animal cruelty, the link between animal cruelty and human violence, the rewards and responsibilities of companion animals. We will inform you about accessing the process and the work CARE does for the animals and their families. APNM provides training about the CARE program and the link between domestic violence and animal abuse to law enforcement, social services providers and concerned citizens. In addition, APNM provides humane education in schools throughout the Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Los Lunas school districts. No Charge or RSVP Required.
