Or as I call it, Star Trek XI: Frequent Explosions. Director J.J. Abrams ("Alias," "Lost") combines Terminator 2, the X-Games and 100 cases of Red Bull to concoct this updated, action-packed, attention-deficit "reboot" of the classic sci-fi franchise. It's over-the-top, oddly filled with product placement (the future will have Nokia and Budweiser!) and has a hell of a lot of plot holes. Still, Abrams seems to know what he's doing, crafting an exciting film with lots of in-jokes and even a semi-credible sci-fi-based excuse for why this fits in so badly with the original continuity. Chris Pine (The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement), Zachary Quinto ("Heroes") and Zoe Saldana (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) are among the teen-friendly cast. 126 minutes PG-13.
