Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry combine their Wonder Twin powers to help present this humble, shattering adaptation of the bestselling book about an obese, painfully shy teen (newcomer Gabourey Sidibe). She enrolls in an alternative school while pregnant with her second child in hopes of overcoming her brutal homelife. It sounds like a hard sell, but the film (like the characer) transcends its dark roots to become something genuinely, powerfully inspirational. 110 minutes R.
