The Cabin in the Woods

Screenwriter Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) turns director under the watchful eye of pal Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," The Avengers) for this twisty variation on the old "cabin in the woods" horror film (see Evil Dead et al.) A group of party-hearty college kids ends up at the remote titular destination for a weekend of fun. Naturally, the whole thing devolves into supernatural terror and death. But what exactly is behind it all? Not your typical ghosts and demons, let's just say that. 95 minutes R.
