This clichéd action flick is the work of all-over-the-place auteur Boaz Yakin (Fresh, A Price Above Rubies, Remember the Titans, Uptown Girls). Jason Statham stars as a bad-ass ex-fill-in-the-blank (cop, CIA agent, cage fighter) who comes to the rescue of a helpless fill-in-the-blank (retired hooker, genius with Asperger's, cute little girl) who's being hunted by evil fill-in-the-blank (Chinese triads, the Russian mob, corrupt NYC cops, all of the above). The throat-punching action is impressive, the script ... not so much. 94 minutes R.
