Prometheus

Thirty-four years after introducing the world to the Alien franchise, director Ridley Scott returns to play in the same universe. This prequel follows a team of space explorers (Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba among them) to the far-flung corners of the universe to unravel a mysterious secret about mankind's origins. This one's more interested in wonderment than terror, and the plot falls apart the longer it goes on, but the visuals are amazing. 124 minutes R.
