Psychedelic Jazz-Rock Fusion Video of the Day III
King Crimson “went places where other musicians of that rock generation mainly avoided.”
I know you’ve been tossing and turning, wondering when the next PJ-RFVotD would appear. Well, toss and turn no more. Dig this 1973 prog performance by Robert Fripp’s perpetually-reworked and -restaffed rock project, King Crimson. I think they used to dredge this one up for Closet Classics on MTV back in the day, which is kinda hilarious, considering how un-MTV this piece actually is. Hmm. Time to rip Larks Tongues in Aspic onto the ol’ iPod ASAP.

In the Court o' the Crimson King (while a great record) wouldn't qualify as fusion. Not very jazzy.
There's some cool pre-KC stuff under the Giles, Giles & Fripp moniker that is *very* jazzy. There's a single studio LP and recently a bunch of home recordings (done on a Revox reel-to-reel) came out (called "The Brondesbury Tapes") that are totally awesome. Great, trippy little pop songs with lovely vocal harmonies and a small-combo jazz sound.- nachodaddy

... is a prized piece of my record collection that comes out on occasion.
I saw Fripp in like 1990 or so as part of a classical guitar sextet and he practically blew my mind.- King Tubby

was the best music to listen to on ACID back in highshool. I wonder what kids today listen to when they're high? Music today doesn't seem like it would go too well with LSD. Do people still take LSD?- jerry
