The name "Kelly Jo Designs" is appropriate, because that's exactly what Kelly Jo does. She designs. In fact, she designed all of the what-must-be thousands of ceramic items in her store (which are then made and painted with the help of local artists). She also just designed a red-and-white, old world-themed dining set for Nordstrom, which you can find among her stock. Her array of vases, boxes, coasters, jewelry, soaps and dining accoutrements are reasonably priced and begging to be wrapped with big satin bows.

DeBenedetto's Women's Shoes

Hours: Tue.-Fri. 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat. 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Closed Sun.

This darling shoe shop is tucked into the back corner of The Village Shops of Los Ranchos. The footwear (specializing in women's flats, heels and boots) is cute, the atmosphere is relaxed and the prices are reasonable. Hang back on one of two giant, pillowed ottomans while admiring your feet (or what your feet are in).

Accents

7209 Fourth Street NW • 898-4488
accentsinside.com, redrockrose.com
Hours: Tue.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Closed Sun.

This is one of a collection of antique stores along Fourth Street referred to as the Antique Mile. Debbie Stuart is the president of the organization that oversees that Mile, as well as the proprietress of Accents, a shop with multifarious purposes. Not only can you find a beautiful assortment of the old and rediscovered, but you can also buy rustic Southwestern furniture made by Debbie's dad. In addition, there's a little corner of the shop devoted to a line of "retro cowgirl" clothing and accessories called Red Rock Rose created by Debbie and her mom.

Black Orchid Couture

8831 Fourth Street NW • 897-3123
blackorchidcouture.com
Hours: Tue.-Sun. 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Closed Mon.

Owner Sara Pena just moved her collection of recycled, vintage, new and custom-made gothic, punk, rockabilly and DIY clothing to Fourth Street. If that sounds like a mouthful, wait until you get an eyeful. Her little shop—lit in neon green paint—is bursting with the obscure. Visit this gem and shop for your friends—it's unisex.
