Take this cartoon I made, for example.

The New Yorker is inviting people to make their own cartoons and submit them for a chance to win a trip for two to New York, a meeting with Cartoon Editor Robert Mankoff and a tour of the offices.

The bulk of their comics are terrible in a pointless, vaguely depressing kind of way. I love the articles, but I just don't get Robert Mankoff's alure.

I love that that's part of the prize. We could offer tours of our offices as prizes. "And to your left, the water cooler and hand-sanitizer. To your right, you'll see a collection of iced tea bottles nobody's laid claim to. In this disgusting pit, an avalanche of papers, and a news editor cursing her computer. Note Nick Brown's weird collection of spiders in cups ... "
