In With the New

Networks add scads of shows to fall season

Last week, we took a glimpse at all the shows the networks were tossing away at the end of this season. So let’s look over all they’ll be adding in the fall.

Out With the Old

Networks sweep aside underperforming shows

The last of the 2012-13 season finales are wrapping up, and the networks are in severe “cut our losses” mode. Last weekend, the broadcast networks started announcing their new shows for fall 2013. That means programmers have to make room in their schedules for all the new content. That’s bad news for a lot of folks in Hollywood who got a mess of pink slips last week telling them that their prime time meal tickets had been canceled.

Elegy for Network TV

Q1 ratings say cable crushes

It’s time to have an uncomfortable talk about mortality. Television as we know it is in the process of dying a slow, painful death. Bowled Over

Best & Worst Super Bowl Commercials

A blackout, an army of Beyoncés and an intentional safety: Super Bowl XLVII may have been the first Super Bowl in a long time that was more interesting than the multi-million-dollar commercials surrounding it. In fact, this year’s ads weren’t a very standout collection, consisting of mostly rehashed and underwhelming entries. What’s the point of spending millions on a 30-second spot if people aren’t going to be buzzing about it the next day?
