Run With Kenyans For Global Health
By Geoffrey Plant [ Sat Jun 1 2013 5:00 PM ]
Think you're a fast runner? This weekend kids and adults alike are invited to participate in the fourth annual 8K Run With Kenyans For Global Health alongside some of Kenya's elite runners. This event begins and ends at Midtown Sports & Wellness, with participants of both events following a looped course along the paved bike path towards UNM's North Campus. Free Kenyan food will be provided and t-shirts, Kenyan baskets and tableware will be available for purchase. All proceeds are in support of Global Health Partnerships, a non-profit organization made up of health care professionals and volunteers whose goal is improving health and health care in developing countries around the world. The partnership based in Albuquerque is involved specifically in aiding the community of Kisesini, Kenya, and their current goal is building a birthing center. Running not your thing? Kids and adults alike are also invited to come dressed as their favorite safari animal (not required) and participate in a 5k Fun Run/Walk. There's even a 1K for the wee ones. Registration fee is $25/adults, $15/18 & under and closes May 31. Midtown Sports & Wellness • Sun Jun 2 • 8 am • $15-$25 • View on Alibi calendar
