Aux Dog Theatre (3011 Monte Vista NE) is presenting an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. Come on down and see Long John Silver in a "toy theater" version of the classic pirate tale. Opening night is Friday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. but if you get there early, there will be a "spectacular aerial skills performance." Stick around afterward for food and live entertainment. Tickets are $10. The play runs through May 29. For more information, visit auxdog.com.
Offices, is a play written by Ethan Coen, one half of the brothers who brought us No Country For Old Men, Raising Arizona and Fargo. It concerns the ups and downs of working in an office. The play runs 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays at Aux Dog Theatre (3011 Monte Vista). If you go see this, you will have a good time, but I can't ensure you won't be a) shot in the head with a cattle gun, b) mercilessly hunted by Randall "Tex" Cobb or c) killed and fed into a wood chipper by a creepy blond guy.
The Aux Dog Theatre, if no longer in its infancy, is still in its toddlerdom. It’s a young theater, and in the producer’s note to the 2011 season, Eli Browning admits that the space has struggled to stay open during its formative years.
