Friends of Film, Video and Arts (FoFVA) will hold its monthly meeting this Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Harwood Art Center’s Basement Theater. The topic of this month’s meeting is “101 Ways to Produce and Distribute Your Webisode.” Discussion will be led by the producers of the local Internet TV series “Date Doctor.” The web-based series is about to debut its first season finale, so you can bet the people behind this know a thing or two on the subject. The FoFVA meeting gets underway at 3 p.m. with a meet-and-greet. Screenings of member films will begin around 3:30 p.m. The webisode panel starts at 4 p.m. This event is free to FoFVA members. A $10 donation gets non-members in the door.
Well, here I am at Harwood Art Center, participating in my very first 24 Hour Comics Day. The whistle has blown (figuratively) and I'm surrounded by about 35 people who all have 24 hours in which to write, draw and edit a complete 24-page comic book. The fine folks at local indie comics imprint 7000 B.C. are sponsoring the local chapter of the international affair. ... Now I just have to figure out what my comic book is going to be. Wish me luck. I'll check back later when I'm burned-out and sleep deprived. --Devin
