The weird stuff I'm finding in the workplace

A broken strand of pearls
A broken strand of pearls

Just in case you missed last week's inaugural post, here's the deal. I inherited a desk and half of an office from a long list of venerable arts editors. All of them left a layer of stuff, things, trinkets, periodicals, tchotchke, edibles and more, in between layers of paper. As I excavate, I share the strangest or funniest bits.
Today's find: pearl necklace. Go ahead, make all the jokes you can think of right away. Get it out of your system. We did it too.

Taking over for John means, for one thing, that I'm taking over his desk. My lovely office mate, Marisa, and I decided to give the whole room an overhaul. It wasn't just the arts editor's desk that was obscured under stacks and piles and heaps and drawers full of weird stuff. It was the entire half of the room, really. We moved a gargantuan, stuffed, white chair and uncovered a squished mass of mail, books, notebooks full of scribblings and more, probably from years ago. To be fair, John inherited the state of the desk from the previous arts editor and just kept working right on top. She, I'm sure, did the same. The cool part of this is, excavating layer by layer is like going back through time. I'm going to post the random things I find as I settle in. Tonight's offering is condiments.
