Leather and Lace
By Julan Wolf [ Wed Feb 8 2017 9:15 AM ]
Kinky Curiosities is more than just a reveal and a show, we're also hosting community tables and we have a contingent from the Leather community!
New Mexico has a long history of titleholders to represent the Leather community, and one of our current titles is Corazon Leather, which happens annually at the Leather Fiesta conference. This year, Catherine and Jinx the Lynx are serving as Ms Corazon Leather 2016! Be sure to stop by and say hello. They'll be hosting a table where they can answer questions, and they'll have tickets to upcoming events and wares to delight you. They're also sharing space with Bootblack Dani, who will be available to shine your shoes, boots, leather corsets and more —bring money to tip the performers and your bootblack!

Dryv into my Heart
By Megan Reneau [ Thu Dec 17 2015 1:52 PM ]
Jack Dishel (former frontman of the band Stipplicon, lead guitar for The Moldy Peaches, tenor guitarist for Little Joy, and frontman/onlyman of Only Son) just started a new YouTube series called :DRYVRS. The first episode features Macaulay Culkin as the adult version of his most well-known role, Kevin McCallister from the Home Alone series. The show follows Dishel as a regular car service passenger and his encounters with unusual drivers.
In this episode titled Just Me In The House By Myself, Culkin plays a married, grown-up version of Kevin McCallister who doesn’t know how to drive. His wife, who is normally a personal driver, did too much coke the previous night so McCallister is forced to cover for her. After arriving at the destination, Dishel and McCallister are robbed at gun-point, which brings back memories of attempted assailants and burglars for McCallister.
The show is comical and modern. Presented on Youtube, it features the entirely current concept of hiring a personal driver for an "Average Joe" with a smartphone and the weirdness that surrounds that situation. The shots change pace quickly when McCallister gets riled up, so it shows what a frenzy he’s in in comparison to Dishel, whose shots reflect him as composed and calm. It’s about 5 minutes long and definitely worth a watch.
Straight from Santaland
By Cerridwen Stucky [ Thu Dec 17 2015 11:19 AM ]
Ah, the holiday season. A time for love, sharing, and generosity towards our fellow man. Alas, it is really a season of the blatant and rather terrifying corporate takeover of the once happy holidays, when mankind turns into a creature of cutthroat consumerism, who is generally cold and much poorer than he'd like to be.
The Santaland Diaries show you this in bulk; these creatures are all you see as a department store elf. David Sedaris chronicles the story of a slacker turned into Santa's little helper, the play's been given great reviews by all the good New York people: the NY Times, Newsday and The New Yorker.
It's now or never, folks, the show plays weekend only. Buy your tickets for only $10 at the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway Blvd SE). Curtain is at 8pm on the Friday, Dec. 18 and Saturday, Dec. 19 Check out our Facebook for a chance to win two free tickets to the show.
