    Acid King, SuperGiant, Anesthesia, Shadow and Ash, Torture Victim, Skulldron, The Conjuring, and Jah Branch converge at the Launchpad (618 Central SW) on Saturday, April 21. The all-ages, metal-heavy fest—hosted by Burque smoke shop / tattoo and piercing salon / gift emporium The Zone—starts at 6 p.m. Tenderizor joins in for a 21-and-over after-show. Tickets are $10.     Pistol Star

    SuperGiant’s oracular third creation

    On Saturday, July 9, SuperGiant releases its third (mystical, heavy, bitchin’) album Pistol Star, recorded over the past two years with Sid Garcia at Sight 16 Studio. The Alibi was previously unable to cover SuperGiant happenings given the fact that half of the band was employed by the paper. That no longer being the case, below, in our first article on the band, vocalist Joel Rogers discusses equipment, symbolism and the mysteries of existence.

    Jeremy McCollum is a guitar player and former Alibi web monkey. Now—when not building his ticketing empire, HoldMyTicket.com—he and his band SuperGiant are working on the July release of a third album, Pistol Star. See them play at the Launchpad on Saturday, June 4, with fellow stoner/doom/metal/psych acts Orange Goblin, The Gates of Slumber and Naam. The 21-and-over show is $10 and starts at 9 p.m. Below are five random tracks from his iPod.
