Explore February’s sonic psychogeography
Live music hunter-and-gatherer Mike Smith takes us on a trip through his February adventures in live, local music in this month’s Last Month in Music. Scope related A/V below. I particularly recommend watching Boba & Gobi’s performance of “Klaus Klaus Dr. Meatball Dr. Meatball” featuring A Hawk and a Hacksaw’s Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost.

It seems like it was over before it even began! Rock and roll duo the Elevator Boys plays for the last time on Friday, Sept. 23. The show—opened by Great White Buffalo and Joe Cardillo (Scrams singer, performing solo for the first time)—happens at 8 p.m. at The Tan (formerly Normal Gallery, 1415 Fourth Street SW). Admission to this all-ages night of loving and fighting and rocking is $5. (Jessica Cassyle Carr)
Straight Arrows happening tonight
Super excellent lo-fi Australian garage psych band Straight Arrows plays at The Tan (1415 Fourth Street SW) tonight. I’ve been listening to the 2010 album It’s Happening all day here (”It Happens Again” is my favorite track). Tonight’s show, opened by Fart House, begins at 8 p.m. Donations in exchange for entry are encouraged.
