Wanna Win Free Tickets to Lura?—AMP House is generously offering Alibi readers a pair a free tickets to the El Rey Theater's Jan. 28 AMP Dance Party featuring soulful Afro-Portuguese songtress Lura. (If the name sounds familiar, it's because she's already graced us once before at last year's ¡Globalquerque! festival.) Be the first to e-mail 10 things you like about soup to me at lauram@alibi.com, and the tickets are yours.

Indie-poppers Ellis will burst on to the scene this Saturday, Jan. 14, at Atomic Cantina. "We fancy ourselves as somewhere in between Spacemen 3 and Sonic Youth," says Ellis member David, "but my guess is that we probably come off as a loud indie band with squealing amplifiers." We'll just see about that, buddy.
