Real Name: Chase Carter
Winning Earwig Mix: "Poodle Neck With Dope Hat"

What do you do when you're not working?
Cruise flea markets, garage sales, etc. I'm a hopeless flea hound. I also adore flipping through old records at my favorite store—
What are you reading?
Voluptuous Panic: The Erotic World of Weimar Berlin, by Mel Gordon.
What was the first concert you went to?
Leon Russell, ’72, Denver Coliseum.
How did this Brit-poppy, psychedelic-folky playlist come about?
Funny story. I made a mix disc for my (poodle neck) girl boss Becki back in L.A. a couple of years ago. I don't think she much cared for it since she never commented on it. Kids. Anyway, I happened to be listening to that disc the day I saw the contest in the Alibi. It was tough, but I selected the 10 best tunes out of about 23. The whole disc is a psych-pop masterpiece, in my humble opinion, and each individual album that the tracks were pulled from are major classics—some old, some new. ... I really didn't think my list would be considered, since I didn't believe anyone would have actually heard of any of those artists.
Any Albuquerque bands you're into?
Who? I haven't lived here very long, so I don't know what the scene is, actually. Where does one go from Silver Lake, Calif.?
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
I dig watching Fritz Lang movies, looking for the next hip thing while sipping coffee and writing haikus on napkins, dressed in black and smelling of reefer ... did I say that? And old brown dachshunds rule ... I love them all!
As a winner of the Alibi's Earwig playlist competition, Chase wins $10 in goodies at Charley's 33s and CDs. Visit alibi.com/earwig to hear this mix or make your own.
