Cold Wave Prayer

Songs for dreaming of winter

yellowcloud via Compfight cc
I’ve had enough. It was 11 summers ago when I chose to relocate to this burg over the muggy Texas Hill Country. Maybe I’m a decade less tolerant. Maybe it’s global warming. Whatever the reason, I formally decree that the time of swamp cooler maintenance and box fans and fly strips is over. Whether you believe in magic (with or sans the “k”), a proclamation of this magnitude must be ritualized with something akin to an incantation. These nine songs of ice and snow, of visible breath and scratchy wool, are interspersed with cold wave and minimal synth on a goosebump-raising Spotify playlist. Draw a cool bath, and pretend it’s sweater weather already. Listen here or below: bit.ly/coldwavesongs
