Zoology crushes it with debut album

By Summer Olsson
The 11 tracks on Zoology’s debut Krush Love buzz with electricity, but the musicians keep the energy tightly controlled, unspooling it meticulously. It’s tense. In a good way. Under the beats—involuntarily head-nod-inducing ones—melodies conjure hints of soul and jazz.

EVENT HORIZON (Friday, May 27)

Music for Heroes

Cloak and Dagger Fest • Gorgon City • electronic, house • Treasure Fingers • dance • option4

By Megan Reneau
No super-heroines will be present to heal anyone, but the music performed on May 27 and 28 starting at 8pm for Cloak and Dagger Fest at the El Rey Theater and Effex may just do that for those young people still recovering from school. Many well known DJs like Gorgon City, Two Fresh, Vindata, Lee Foss, Lee K, MANIK and Cashmere Cat are performing and even more local favorites like Reverend Mitton, Matthew Levi, DJ Eldon, Burn The Disco, PEZZ and DJ Ohm breaking down beats, as well. If you're not able to teleport like some dark, mysterious strangers, you can get tickets for entry starting at $15 for entry to Effex on day two (only folks 21 and up allowed), $20 for entry to El Rey on day one (18 years and older on this day) and $28 for the whole weekend.
