Music to Your Ears
By Laura Marrich
Like salmon swimming upstream to spawn, skateboarders leave the concrete grind of Albuquerque each spring for the cool, mountain town of Jemez. On Saturday, April 25, the succinctly titled Jemez Springs Skateboard Competition Extravaganza returns to Jemez' municipal skate park.

Tim Holly (aka Agent Number 6) says he could probably be in a non-theme band, but he can’t be sure.

Move. Groove. Groom. Your mustache. Stereotyperider headlines Toddy T-Bones’ Fifth Annual Mustache Party on Saturday, April 25, at the Launchpad with Split Hoof (follicly gifted Austin stoner rock) and more hirsute versions of Black Maria, Ends !n Tragedy and DJ Chach. Doors splay open at 8 p.m. No word on cover yet, but people without mustaches may be monetarily punished. There’s no peach fuzz at this party (21+ only). (Laura Marrich)
Phoenix Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix · Silversun Pickups Swoon
The world could use more of many things—truffles, fresh water, flowers, yetis, helium, French pop songs—and thankfully Phoenix, from Versailles, France, will do its part to fill the void by releasing studio album No. 4 in May. Aside from one track sounding like music for a South Florida speedboat chase featuring Don Johnson, the pompously titled Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix generally presents bittersweet synth-rock—une bonne chose. What's better than unplugging from social media? A lot of things, honestly. For example, Low Spirits is hosting an Unplugged Night this coming Saturday, Aug. 27, where musicians who normally rely on electronics (whether that's a MIDI board or guitar) perform, well, unplugged. Local favorites Joel and Jeremy from SuperGiant, Adam Hooks from Russian Girlfriends, Rueben Krussick of WholeHearted and Lilah Rose will be performing. Doors open at 8pm and tickets will be sold for $5 at the door. See? You don't have to get crazy to enjoy less technology in life.
