Nob Hill Bar and Grill boasts meatloaf (crowned with smoked bacon) and burgers (American kobe). Signature cocktails, a few vegetarian entrées, and a comfy but chic atmosphere make Nob Hill Bar and Grill a solid addition to the neighborhood. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010) View/Add Reviews [ 11 ] This British Isles-style pub is the brainchild of successful local restaurateur Tom White (Scalo and Il Vicino). Highlights include buckets of beer, scads of Scotches and a full menu until 11 p.m. weekdays and midnight on weekends. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010) View/Add Reviews [ 2 ] Zacatecas is an upscale taco-and-tequila concept, the new baby of Mark Kiffin, whose Santa Fe restaurant The Compound is renowned for its ingredients and artistry. His Pacific rock cod taco is perfectly browned on the outside, juicy on the inside, and oozing with glorious fish grease. With the addition of coleslaw and habanero salsa, this was not the taco of anyone’s abuelita. Toast her health with a three-mescal sampler, which comes in terra cotta dishes. A few years after being ousted from its nearly decade-long home in Nob Hill, O'Niell's Pub has migrated east up Central and reopened in a new (but reassuringly familiar) space. All the old standouts like fish and chips and the “Burger in Paradise” are still here and as good as they ever were. Tractor Brewing's O'Niell's Irish Red is a perfectly balanced beer drunk by itself or with everything from chicken wings to chocolate cake. They're comforting, a little cheeky and unapologetically Irish-American. Just like O'Niell's Pub. The people-watching on the patio is excellent, if you can can get a spot. From the same folks behind Q/bRgR in Downtown. (Alibi Staff, August 23, 2011) Add a Review Brickyard Pizza is known for fast slices and beers on the cheap. It's the only full bar directly across from UNM, making it the prime watering hole for your post-theater and post- or pre-class needs. It also sometimes has live music and, usually, more televised sports than you can handle. The best thing about Brickyard, though, is that it's also the only noncorporate pizza establishment with late-night delivery (until 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 1:30 a.m. all other nights) in Burque, which satiates an otherwise unfortunate void. Sat: 2pm-2am
Sun: noon-midnight (subject to change) In the front, it's a standard restaurant laid out with a small bar and big window facing the street. Travel a short way through a blacklit hall and enter the kind of divey neighborhood hangout this city needs more of, complete with TVs, a jukebox, a ping-pong table, air hockey and arcade games. Though the entire menu is available no matter where you choose to spend your time, you can't go wrong with the twisty-crust pizza. Caroline the bartender makes the meanest Lemondrops and non-blended Margaritas around. Suck back one of her Bloody Marys, too, which she makes extra spicy with Sriracha rooster sauce. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010) Add a Review We still miss Jack’s, but its copper-ceilinged replacement has been around long enough to become an institution itself. The rambly old building has plenty of dark corners to hide in as you make your way through the extensive beer menu, and if the weather’s nice, an inviting patio area to scarf down a brick-oven cooked pizza in the fresh Spring breeze. (Alibi Staff, December 23, 2010) Add a Review You’ll probably have to battle full parking lots and at least a moderate wait, but these delays, annoying as they may be, are one of the best “reviews” a restaurant could hope for. Inside, the dim lighting and rustic décor easily fade away when an enormous pile of tender, saucy meat appears before you. The almost heat-free sauce is tangy and sweet but mellow enough to go down nice and easy without a pucker. Friends of the sausage will love the hot links; well-spiced and smoky dogs with a delightful snap. A huge bar takes care of all your beer and cocktail needs. Closed Sunday & Monday (subject to change) Full review: An international trip, right down to the exchange rate (10/29/2009) Cosmo Tapas is in the space that once housed the Martini Grille, which has the benefit of already feeling like a well-worn pair of jeans. With an ambitious menu of tapas from around the world, the continental theme is bolstered by enclosing menus inside manila envelopes stamped “International Courier.” The crowd that turns out for the music nights is young and diverse. The mixed drinks are interesting and, for the most part, good (try the Samba). Filling up on small plates can get expensive, but there are bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese, lollipop lamb chops with olive tapenade and scallops

. Or look to the rotating entrée specials as a more cost-conscious way to squelch your appetite. You'd never know it shares a wall with Uptown Sports Bar. ABQ Brew Pub’s kitchen boasts black cultured mussels in court-bouillon fumé, steaks with Chimayó chile rub and cheesecake with crème de cassis sauce. Ten taps host Sierra Blanca / Rio Grande offerings, available in 10-, 16-, or 22-ounce glasses ($3.25, $4 and $5.50). Four-ounce samplers go for $1 each. All the sizes fit nicely on high-tech, built-in coasters that keep drinks frosty. (Alibi Staff, December 23, 2010) Add a Review ![]() Charlie's Front and Back DoorFront Door hours:

And we mean that in a good way—unpretentious and broken-in like a favorite pair of scuffed boots. The cozily dim restaurant (front) and bar (back) are separated by a kitchen that services both rooms with Charlie’s signature New Mexican-American fare. Roll up your sleeves for delicious sour cream-chicken enchiladas and enormous, juicy burgers; then order a round of Bud Light for your blue-collar buddies. (1/6/2011) This sports bar on Coors just north of I-40, has got your UFC fix on TV along with some satisfying bar food options. The rack of basted barbecue ribs are juicy, tender and fatty. A mesquite chicken sandwich, served on a ciabatta bun, is tasty. And the oven-roasted turkey club with poblano pepper and grilled onions is a winner. *Bar opens every day at 4pm (subject to change) Roughhewn wood planks lead you into this nautically themed steak and seafood restaurant, which doesn’t start seating for dinner until 5 p.m. Luckily, happy hour begins at 4 p.m. Have a “Lady Godiva” hot cocktail and a baker's dozen of “topless” oysters in the bar while you wait. Then dive into creamy clam chowder, 10-ounce, butter-sweet Australian lobster tail and Ranchero center-cut top sirloin. There's plenty of key lime pie in the icebox and Phil Collins on the speakers. Dinner’s served until 10:30 p.m. every night. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010) Add a Review |
