The process used to create Olo’s vibrant flavors guarantees live, active cultures in the product. There are 10 flavors available on tap at any given time, every one richly flavorful. (You can find this week’s list of flavors on Olo's website.) Follow the signs and take a cup to the stainless steel taps. Once you have your yogurt(s) in a cup, there are more than 45 toppings to crown your dish. Finish it off with a swirl of whipped cream and weigh in at the register. At 41 cents an ounce, you can customize a treat that satisfies your palate and your pocketbook. (Alibi Staff, November 18, 2010)

4.67 rating (9 votes)
P’tit Louis’ new Nob Hill digs are a collaboration between Christophe Descarpentries, John Phinizy and a new partner: Tom White of Il Vicino and Two Fools Tavern. Descarpentries has a knack for building Paris from scratch. The restaurant on Gold transports you to Paris of the ’20s. P’tit Louis on Silver more resembles a stop along the outskirts, a perfect village bistro at the turn of the century. The menu welcomes diners to many of the Downtown bistro’s popular dishes, but there are some new choices as well. Descarpentries will continue the practice of daily specials. Nob Hill diners will have the added pleasure of dinner hours Thursday through Saturday and, when weather permits, alfresco dining on the patio. Special private seatings are still available on other evenings. (Alibi Staff, September 29, 2011)

Satellite serves up coffee (the Best Coffee, according to Best of Burque Restaurants polls) and tea, as well as burritos, sandwiches and pastries. This is a good choice if you’re hungry late (it’s open until at least 10:30 p.m. most nights) or need a quick gift for your beverage-loving friends: We recommend the too-cute travel mugs. The surprising thing about Scalo is that it’s simultaneously more pleasant and less expensive than you’d think. It’s just as breezy and classy as ever in its high-ceilinged dining room, while the patio will have a nice, long season of pleasant weather. Now serving brunch on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and there’s plenty of fresh-pressed espresso to sip with it. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

4.19 rating (33 votes)
Too much time studying can turn the sweetest soul into a big ’ol crab. But just so you remember that not all crabs are bad, take a lunch or dinner break at Shogun. There’s sushi, sashimi and nigiri, and the soft shell crab rolls are a treat worth mentioning a couple of times. The best part is watching your food get made right in front of you and then floated around the table on an armada of wooden boats. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

On the streets of Asia, vendors often specialize in one dish handed down through generations, preparing quick meals for passersby like hot noodle bowls, exotic sandwiches and spicy skewered satays. It’s a hotbed of cultural diversity including Vietnamese pho, Korean noodles, Japanese udon, and Malay and Chinese stir-fry. StreetFood Asia's menu offers a dizzying array of sauces, toppings, garnishes, meats, seafood, and vegetables in dinner portions or small plates in the heart of Nob Hill. Exotic bar drinks and an long list of excellent sakes adds sparkle to your meal. (Alibi Staff, July 12, 2011)

Meals Served: LunchDinner

The Thai Vegan menu includes fake shrimp, chicken, fish and pepper steak. That said, it isn’t the sophistication of vegetarian faux meats that makes the place so good. It’s amazing because the cooks really know what they’re doing, and they use quality ingredients. The Thai iced tea (yup, that’s vegan too) is like sipping Bangkok through a straw. You love Yanni's. So do we. As the only restaurant in Albuquerque with a diverse and refined Greek-influenced Mediterranean menu, who can top them? Their adjoined Opa Bar seats about 85 people and is open for lunch, dinner or just cocktails. Painted deep red, dimly lit and accented with lots of dark wood, the lounge provides a stark contrast to the bright, light and airy dining rooms at Yanni's. It’s an ideal place for pre- or post-movie cocktails and snacks, or more substantial cuisine. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

Zacatecas

3423 Central Ave NE (Nob Hill)
Albuquerque NM
(505) 255-TACO (8226)
zacatecastacos.com

5 rating (8 votes)
Zacatecas is an upscale taco-and-tequila concept, the new baby of Mark Kiffin, whose Santa Fe restaurant The Compound is renowned for its ingredients and artistry. His Pacific rock cod taco is perfectly browned on the outside, juicy on the inside, and oozing with glorious fish grease. With the addition of coleslaw and habanero salsa, this was not the taco of anyone’s abuelita. Toast her health with a three-mescal sampler, which comes in terra cotta dishes. 4.35 rating (35 votes)
Best Wine Bar winners in 2008’s Best of Burque poll, Zinc is a delightfully renovated historic space in Nob Hill, reborn as an upscale restaurant serving elegant American food with noticeable French inspiration. Thirsty? Don't miss the mocha, with “Zinc” written in chocolate syrup, or the wonderful selection of wines by the glass. Downstairs, the wine bar attracts a younger crowd for drinks and music.
