4.25 rating (12 votes)
P’tit Louis’ new Nob Hill digs is a collaboration between Christopher Descarpentries, John Phinizy and Tom White of Il Vicino and Two Fools Tavern. Descarpentries has a knack for building Paris from scratch. The restaurant on Gold transports you to Paris of the ’20s. P’tit Louis on Silver resembles bistro along the outskirts of Paris. The menu welcomes diners to many of the downtown bistro’s popular dishes but there are some new choices as well. Descarpentries will continue the practice of daily specials. Nob Hill diners will have the added pleasure of dinner hours Thursday through Saturday and, when weather permits, alfresco dining on the patio. Special private seatings are still available on other evenings. (Alibi Staff, September 29, 2011)

Satellite serves up coffee (the Best Coffee, according to Best of Burque Restaurants polls) and tea, as well as burritos, sandwiches and pastries. This is a good choice if you’re hungry late (it’s open until at least 10:30 p.m. most nights) or need a quick gift for your beverage-loving friends: We recommend the too-cute travel mugs. The surprising thing about Scalo is that it’s simultaneously more fancy and less expensive than you’d think. It’s just as breezy and classy as ever in its high-ceilinged dining room. All of the bottles on the wine list are half-price on Monday nights, and there’s free, live music in the bar. Voted Best italian for 2013. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

4.18 rating (34 votes)
Too much time studying can turn the sweetest soul into a big ’ol crab. But just so you remember that not all crabs are bad, take a lunch or dinner break at Shogun. There’s sushi, sashimi and nigiri, and the soft shell crab rolls are a treat worth mentioning a couple of times. The best part is watching your food get made right in front of you and then floated around the table on an armada of wooden boats. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

On the streets of Asia, vendors often specialize in one dish handed down through generations, preparing quick meals for passersby like hot noodle bowls, exotic sandwiches and spicy skewered satays. It’s a hotbed of cultural diversity including Vietnamese pho, Korean noodles, Japanese udon, and Malay and Chinese stir-fry. StreetFood Asia's menu offers a dizzying array of sauces, toppings, garnishes, meats, seafood, and vegetables in dinner portions or small plates in the heart of Nob Hill. Exotic bar drinks and an long list of excellent sakes adds sparkle to your meal. (Alibi Staff, July 12, 2011)

Thai Vegan Nob Hill

3804 Central Ave SE (Nob Hill)
Albuquerque NM

Mon-Sat 11 am-9 pm Sun Noon-9 pm (hours can change without notice)
Meals Served: LunchDinner
Nearby Theater: Guild Cinema (See Film Times)

4 rating (1 vote)
The Thai Vegan menu includes fake shrimp, chicken, fish and pepper steak. That said, it isn’t the vegetarian faux meats that makes the place so good, but rather the fact that the cooks really know what they’re doing as they whip up their vegan delights. The Thai iced tea (yup, that’s vegan too) is like sipping Bangkok through a straw. (Alibi Staff, April 10, 2013)

This British Isles-style pub is the brainchild of successful local restaurateur Tom White (Scalo and Il Vicino). Highlights include buckets of beer, scads of Scotches and a full menu until 11 p.m. weekdays and midnight on weekends. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

3.9 rating (47 votes)
You love Yanni's. So do we. As the only restaurant in Albuquerque with a diverse and refined Greek-influenced Mediterranean menu, who can top them? Their adjoined Opa Bar seats about 85 people and is open for lunch, dinner or just cocktails. Painted deep red, dimly lit and accented with lots of dark wood, the lounge provides a stark contrast to the bright, light and airy dining rooms at Yanni's. It’s an ideal place for pre- or post-movie cocktails and snacks, or more substantial cuisine. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

Zacatecas

3423 Central Ave NE (Nob Hill)
Albuquerque NM
(505) 255-TACO (8226)
zacatecastacos.com

5 rating (9 votes)
Zacatecas is an upscale taco-and-tequila concept, the new baby of Mark Kiffin, whose Santa Fe restaurant The Compound is renowned for its ingredients and artistry. His Pacific rock cod taco is perfectly browned on the outside, juicy on the inside, and oozing with glorious fish grease. With the addition of coleslaw and habanero salsa, this was not the taco of anyone’s abuelita. Toast her health with a three-mescal sampler, which comes in terra cotta dishes. 4.33 rating (37 votes)
Best Wine Bar winners in 2008’s Best of Burque poll, Zinc is a delightfully renovated historic space in Nob Hill, reborn as an upscale restaurant serving elegant American food with noticeable French inspiration. Thirsty? Don't miss the mocha, with “Zinc” written in chocolate syrup, or the wonderful selection of wines by the glass. Downstairs, the wine bar attracts a younger crowd for drinks and music.

2.75 rating (5 votes)
Nestled into half of the space formerly occupied by Vivace, Bistronomy B2B is a small restaurant with a straightforward goal: to serve the best damn local-beef hamburgers and microbrewed beers around. With eight burgers to choose from—including the delectable Nawlins with blue cheese—and 33 local beers on tap, the joint should be a beacon for anyone with a carnivorous appetite. Mariscos and northern Mexican cuisine with a unique flair. Various ceviche-like dishes feature raw shrimp of unusually firm deliciousness. The epic Charola De Mariscos platter (fried, steamed and raw) must be seen to be believed. Don’t fill up on the chips. (Alibi Staff, October 28, 2013)

Elaine’s

3503 Central Ave NE (Nob Hill)
Albuquerque NM
433-4782
Dinner only, 5pm-10:30pm, Tuesday-Saturday (hours can change without notice)
Meals Served: Dinner
Nearby Theater: Guild Cinema (See Film Times)
Cuisine: French, Italian

3 rating (1 vote)
First off, you might want to dress up a little so you don’t feel like a total boob in Elaine’s intimate, hip/luxe dining room. Secondly, make sure you’ve got a full wallet before going in—we’re talking $55 a person minimum. And finally, ready your palate for some spectacular food. We recommend the yellow fin tuna crudo or the Pat LaFrieda tartare, but really, it’s hard to go wrong at a place like this. (Alibi Staff, January 28, 2014)

Mimmo Espresso

3901 Central Ave NE (Nob Hill)
Albuquerque NM
926-1686
Nearby Theater: Guild Cinema (See Film Times)

No Votes Yet!
Named after the owner’s dog, Mimmo is a walk-up (or better yet, bike-up) café on a quiet side street just east of Nob Hill. The coffee is great, which should come as no surprise to those who frequented Joe Prinzivalli’s previus venture, Café Giuseppe. On temperate days, Joe sets up a table and chairs on the sidewalk so you can take your coffee in Euro-style. Mimmo himself is usually somewhere nearby to keep you company. Jewish cuisine comes to Nob Hill in the form of Nosh, a friendly deli style café where the lox is lush, the cream cheese is tangy and the owner calls you “hon.” You’ll walk out smelling like knish, but it’s worth it for a crack at Albuquerque’s most delicious and authentic latkes. If you’re into meat and motors you should check this place out. The back half of the building is reserved for customizing motorcycles while the front half is a rollicking restaurant with a great beer selection and a stage for live music. The menu revels in heavier fare like burgers and fried chicken. Stop by in the morning for the best tasting breakfast in Nob Hill. (Alibi Staff, December 6, 2012)
