A Downtown standard in a new location. The restaurant’s lengthy menu boasts down-home Turkish, Mediterranean and Asian eats. His baba ghanoush is flavorful and nicely accented with a sprinkling of sumac. (Alibi Staff, July 12, 2011)

This place has such a warm atmosphere and excellent customer service you’ll prefer it to dining with your own family. Owner Rob Carson is as personable a guy as you’ll ever meet, and his sandwiches aren’t too shabby, either. Fresh bread, slow-roasted beef with au jus and Boar’s Head meats and cheeses give this sammich shop a rep for filling its customers up. The staff is an impeccably mannered bunch. This is a keyhole sized French-American restaurant with a menu that changes on the daily. With that being said, the intimate setting and locally sourced artisan menu make a worthwhile destination, especially if they’re serving up green chile-spiked French onion soup. Stop by with flexible expectations and see what’s on the board. (Alibi Staff, April 17, 2014)

A New Mexico tradition since 1952! For an award-winning (for both Best Burger and Best French Fries), quick burger or chili dog, fresh fries and fountain favorites that hit the spot for just a pocketful of change, it’s got to be Blake’s. Countless counters are scattered throughout the city, and each one is a model of efficiency and cleanliness. Why look any further? They’re easy to spot from afar—just keep an eye out for the giant Asian Uncle Sam sign. Comes with a drive through, too. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

Doggerz

Albuquerque NM
315-5681

2.17 rating (6 votes)
It may have a small, rotating menu, but whatever Doggerz is dishing out on a given day is guaranteed to be good. Philly cheesesteak seems to be a mainstay, as do beer brats steamed in real beer. But you never know what they might be cooking, so just make sure to come hungry. (Alibi Staff, July 18, 2013)

New Mexican food in the Garduño’s vein—plus burgers and booze—in a bucolic valley setting. In fact, El Bruno’s does indeed occupy the site (and, one might assume, the demographic) of the former North Valley Garduño’s. (Alibi Staff, April 10, 2013)

Steven and Felicia Meyer have had their stylish custom wood oven in tow since April 2011. Featuring local and natural ingredients, this mobile pizzeria sets up outdoors and doles out artisan pizza at hot spots like the Downtown Growers Market and many other events around town. Winner of Best Casual Dining, Best Veggie Burger, Best Toast, Best Healthy Breakfast and Best Desserts in our restaurant polls. Sure, you go in thinking you’ll be good and get a skinny latte, scrambled egg whites and a side of turkey and green chile sausage, but five minutes later somebody’s saying “eclair” and the voice is coming from your mouth. But, boy, do they taste good. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

When she’s taking time out from scouting locations for “Breaking Bad” and “In Plain Sight,” Cyndy McCrossen runs Fresh Squeezed! with her son Weston and daughter Penelope. They serve up fresh lemonade and limeade, New York-style egg creams, organic European-style hot dogs and other retro treats. (Alibi Staff, October 29, 2012)

Argentinians love their meat, and chef Diego Grant is no exception. Skirt steak and choripan sausage sizzles away on the grill he hauls behind his truck, ready at a moment’s notice to be dressed with locally grown greens and slapped onto a torta roll. Or try one of his ground beef and milk stuffed empenadas. Either way, El Gauchito’s cooking is not to be missed. (Alibi Staff, September 12, 2013)

The word “gedunk” is a Navy term refering to snack foods and the places they are sold. Fitting, then, for veteran Chef Patrick Humpf’s food truck to bear the name. The menu changes often, and features everyday food with a gourmet twist. One Wednesday, you might partake in a rich dessert like their tasty Boston creme cake, while the next week could bring you face to face with chocolate-piñon-coffee rubbed pork tacos.
