When you enter La Casita in Bernalillo, you’re greeted with a pair of chile-shaped chalkboards announcing the strengths of the red and green that day. And if they say something is hot at La Casita, they mean it. Posole, tamales (green-chile chicken or red-chile pork) in sweet masa, enchiladas—it’s all down-home and bueno . To go along with La Casita’s New Mexican offerings, there’s even a New Mexican wine list. Or if staying in is on the menu, La Casita’s family-size takeout is one of the best bargains going. Not only do these people serve thick, meaty bacon, dreamy globs of queso and hot, buttery biscuits—because that would most certainly be enough on its own—but The Range Café in Bernalillo also happens to keep things interesting at night. Step into their Lizard Rodeo Lounge for free live music three or four nights a week, a full-service bar, nice atmosphere and a fine BLT. Thank you, Range people. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)
