The menu at Thai Tip is extensive, with pages and pages of noodles, curries and stir-fried dishes. The spicy and sour thom yum soup (served over a flaming Sterno) is as delicious as its presentation promises; the brightly colored green bean curry is fantastic. Fans of Thai food will not be disappointed. Winners of Best Undiscovered Restaurant and Best Mom and Pop Restaurant in Alibi restaurant polls past. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

  • It's tucked away on the northern leg of the strip mall, not facing the street,  [ Tue Sep 28 2010 7:42 AM ]

so I never even saw it until I ate at Eloy's a few nights before. It's a tiny place, and it was reasonably crowded for 6:30 on a Monday. There was a middle-aged Anglo guy waiting tables who had the air of an owner and I caught him speaking Thai (or some Asian language) to the other workers. Their curry comes in mild, medium, New Mexico hot and thai hot. I ordered red curry New Mexico hot and the kid at the counter tried to scare me off it. He said it was hotter than any New Mexican food so I should just get medium hot. I persisted and he relented, but I got an extra order of green curry medium in case he was right.

It was a little pricey at $9.95 per entree considering the small portions, and the New Mexican hot was really not very hot at all compared to some other places in town. The curry was a little watery, too, and barely clung to the vegetables. I'll definitely go back and try some other dishes, though. I saw an appetizer sampler go out to another table while I was waiting, and it looked astounding.
