Great Carne Adovada! Light and tasty sopapillas.True New Mexican style food. Good food, cheap prices,eclectic atmosphere and friendly staff. Think greasy spoon with Mexican kitsch and tchotchkes.

is the taco that comes on a wet plate straight out of the sink.
Garcia's is ok, just don't order a side taco... and once you find something you like, you might as well stick with it. I get the chorizo and eggs with red chile and stir the whole thing up into mush. It's pretty good that way.

But there are about two dozen better New Mexican joints in this town than Garcia's. I like to think of it as the New Mexican Denny's. Certain Garcia's locations are better than others, though, particularly with regard to the kitsch value.

a few bad experiences with their ground beef but they make a mean been and green chile burrito for like $2 (good beans), good homemade tortillas and the huevos rancheros are really good.

their red chile is some kind of weird. It is like it is like stew juice, or something, and then got turned into chile.
But its not like chile, its like, weird.
I just dunno - I think there is a cadre of "Garcia's" "people" out there who seem to adore the fare.
The rest of us earthlings [?] just like to bitch!

$4 for the been burrito plate with rice and beans. I know that creates a situation where you're eating a lot of beans, but it's still the best deal in town. It's a huge plate of great food for $4.
