As you’re already well aware, Buffett's Candies is home to the largest candy cane this side of the Mississippi. (Admit it, you’ve always wanted to pop in and see if it’s got melon-sized bonbons to boot.) All the candies are made fresh, with real butter, cream and sugar, and if there are piñons in it, you can be sure they came from New Mexico. (Alibi Staff, August 11, 2010)

I grew up on Albuquerque and had driven past Buffet's like a million times w/out going in. I finally did a couple months ago and it was...weird.
Seriously, it was like the place was plucked straight out of the 1960's with it's strangely empty, sterile white environment. I mean, See's candies cultivates that oddly hospital-like atmosphere too but Buffet's feels kinda shopworn, like something you'd find in a rural, nearly-deserted town in the middle of nowhere.
That said, the chocolate was pretty good - we got a chocolate marshmallow, a dark chocolate bar and a few bon bons - but not good enough to warrant another trip into the past.

If you are a chocolate lover, go to Buffets. Their chocolate is super; the candy makers working the counter are delightful older ladies; you can mix and match all boxes of chocolates; and, they almost always have New Mexico pinons.... definitely something to cherish with good chocolate! This is a great, old-time, handmade candy, retail store!! Yummy!!

The chocolates are great. Try them side-by-side with anything you'd get from a grocery store or catalog (Cocopotamus excluded, of course). You'll notice how waxy and stale tasting the non-Buffett's stuff is.
