Ortega’sOrtega’s bills itself as serving “healthy New Mexican” cuisine. A contradiction in terms, you say? Well, kind of. You’ll still get the goopy eggs, greasy cheese and meaty red chile, but with a few surprising differences. Notably, they serve whole beans instead of refried, use no lard and make whole-wheat sopaipillas. That’s right—whole-wheat sopaipillas. Which are deep-fried. But, hey, at least they have more fiber.
