This restaurant has been around for 35 years for a darn good reason—fresh pasta made and cooked to order. Owner Rick Camuglia carries on a fine Sicilian tradition of fresh ingredients, a cozy atmosphere like grandma’s kitchen, and pizzas and calzones made with fresh dough. Forget the cheesy chains with Chianti bottle drip candles and come in for the “presto” lunch, linger over the ossobuco and stay for the spumoni and a cup of espresso. A million lovely carbs can’t be wrong, and neither can the Alibi voters who’ve given Paisano’s honors for Best Pasta.

Not Grandma's Italian cooking [ Sun Jun 28 2009 12:23 PM ]

The calamari was so sweet we could not eat it. The scallops were not in a spicy sauce & the fish broth was ugh. The chicken ravioli claimed an Amatriciana sauce but you could not taste any "Guanciale" (similar to pancetta) & I doubt they used pecorino cheese.

The lasagna had so much balsamic vinegar it was like biting into a pickle sandwich. And to make matters worse, it was still refrigerated in the middle....
Never, never, never again!

I used to frequent Paisano's on a regular basis. Then a friend and I had a bad experience with the food. My husband and I gave it a try a while back and I remembered why I used to go there so much. Well, they're back on my sh** list. We had appetizers at a different restaurant, but I wanted pasta. Our waitress (her name was Hillary) was not friendly from the get go, but the whole thing just got worse. I ordered the carbonara. My husband ordered a bowl of soup, as he was not very hungry. Our waitress said(this is a direct quote) "Just soup? Really?" I was SHOCKED. Both my husband and I are servers and I would have been fired if I said that to a table. Not only that, but the food was sub par. The cream of butternut squash soup was overly salty with no trace of squash flavor. I was so livid, I asked for my food to be boxed (which I had to do myself) and got the check. Upon talking to the manager, I was even more surprised to find that they just didn't care that the food was bad and the service was worse. Never again.

the food was just ok and overpriced. the service sucked and the staff was rude. i've been a server for years and i've always made decent tips. bad service means bad tips, combined with bad food it means no tips!

Sorry folks, seeing this made me think twice about just how different my dining experience would be, versus picking up a frozen Stouffer's Italian entree at Walmart. I must admit that my $9.98 lasagna was worlds better that the hugely overpriced equivalent, that was served here.
Avoid this place at all costs! It is truly a SLOP-HOUSE!
