Pho Nguyen (if you're a Vietnamese pronunciation newbie, say "Fun Win"), located in the same strip mall storefront once occupied by the casual Japanese eatery California Witches, is among the newer pho spots to join the pack. The environment is comfortable, the savory crêpes are tasty and a recent herby salad of crisp lotus stems, daikon radish, sliced carrot and sliced shrimp was refreshing and very good. • Best Pho Ever!  [ Thu Feb 28 2008 12:17 PM ]

Pho Nguyen is the best Vietnamese restaurant around. The food is authentic and the atomsphere is great. The fishsauce is a perfect compliment to the Bun, it is not watered down like in other restaurants. I recommend the meatball soup for appetizers, followed by the combination Bun. Mrs. Nguyen uses her lifetime of cooking knowledge and Vietnam heritage to give you the real deal.

Serious food....excellent quality. Actual service, from folks that care about your dining experience and comfort. Very flavorful, great place. Add this one to be a regular stop and try all the dishes...I have not had one that I have been dissapointed with...excellent chow.....You will not be dissapointed.

  • Excellent food!!!!  [ Fri Mar 28 2008 12:45 PM ]

I've eaten at many vietnamese restaurants in Albuquerque and around the country, mainly in Texas and California, and PHO NGUYEN left the best impression. The PHO (beef noodle soup), for those of you not too familiar with vietnamese food, is so good, I want to eat it everytime I go there. You really have to eat the PHO here, then go to other vietnamese restaurants and try theres to really appreciate the goodness of PHO NGUYEN. There are many tasty rice dishes and the BUN (rice noodle with grilled meat of your choice), is very good. Try the spring rolls, shrimp in bean curd wrap or shrimp wrapped in bacon. All are excellent!! I have a hard time deciding which ones to order each time I go there, so bring a friend and share it. It's a lot of good food. Try their different smoothies with boba also! I'm getting hungry just writing this short comment. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

  • Are the above reviews fake?!  [ Sun Feb 22 2009 10:15 AM ]

We had slow indifferent service - and there was no one else there. The food was pedestrian, dull, bland and not like any decent Vietnamese I've had for the last 20+ years. The portions were skimpy in size and heavy on the CHEAP ingredients.

    Never returning here.

  • Excellent, honest to goodness Vietnamese food  [ Fri Apr 10 2009 3:12 PM ]

I'm back again. Not sure what sprocket is talking about. Maybe he had a bad day and just blamed it on the restuarant. I was there last Friday night and had the papaya salad for appetizer and a bowl of duck noodle. My wife had the house special spicy noodle. The papaya salad was very tasty....best i've had for a long time. The duck noodle was excellent...the marinated duck, then fried, on top of the broth was to die for. I didn't really want to share with my wife, but wanted to try her house special spicy noodle so had to settle. Hehehe. Her dish was also excellent. I will have to eat that next time. The young wait staff is very nice and helpful.

  • Not another fake review  [ Fri Apr 10 2009 3:52 PM ]

When you get food as good as this nothing else matters. I had some savory crepes. Just eat it.
