Dorian Electra • electropop
Dorian Electra makes music for the unapologetically glamorous and the internet-raised generation of queers. Their debut album “Flamboyant,” an experimental pop tour de force with gender-weird themes abounding, came out this year to critical praise from Pitchfork, Billboard, and The Fader. The singles “Man to Man” and “Career Boy” feature high concept music videos with over-the-top costumes and choreography, and the title track “Flamboyant” is essentially an artist’s statement for Electra: “No taste for subtlety/ And no time for restraint.” Mood Killer, another non-binary experimental pop musician, open the show. Dorian Electra performs at Meow Wolf on Friday, Sept. 28. Doors are at 8pm, show at 8:30pm. Tickets cost $16.50 in advance and are available at meowwolf.com. This is an all-ages show.
