The big, bad wolf can huff and puff and bust his lungs trying to blow the little brick house of art down, but that shack is solid. The Harwood Art Center, God bless it, is here to stay.
As you probably already know, the Harwood does a lot of good for our local art community. It offers classes, festivals, film screenings, concerts, theater, poetry and plenty more.
This month it's sporting a quartet of new exhibits in its various galleries. They're well worth a look-see.
In the main gallery is a show of ceramics presented by the New Mexico Potter's Association featuring everything from functional pots to dysfunctional but dramatically eye-pleasing ceramic sculptures. In the North Community Gallery, Randy Getty offers some photographic images capturing moments from his travels. In the South Community Gallery and the North and South Galleries you'll find additional exhibits featuring work by Lu Sage and Sheilah Wilson.
A joint reception for all these exhibits will occur on the evening of Artscrawl, Friday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. You might love all these artists. You might only love two or three of them. Odds are, though, you'll find something in these hallowed halls to make your inner piggy happy. 242-6367.
