Right next to a Pizza Hut, this is a busy little neighborhood joint filled with locals. The drinks are good, the people are friendly, and it’s even been said that Billy’s Pub is Albuquerque’s own “Cheers.” So sit down, order a whiskey and get ready to shoot the shit with the regulars.

Balance the liquids with brats, flatbreads, sandwiches or salads. Canteen has seasonal items always making appearances on the menu so there is always something new to try.

Cantina Nueva

cantinanueva.com
Sun-Thu 11am-9pm Fri-Sat 11am-10pm (hours can change without notice)
Meals Served: BrunchLunchDinner
Cantina Nueva has plenty of the margaritas and classic dishes that have made its sister restaurant Garduño’s such a local classic, but it also has some creative new dishes that set it apart. The addition of fresh greens, pickled red onions, smoky molé sauce and herb-infused cremas makes for a pleasant surprise in a culinary landscape filled with one-note enchiladas and the like. Sit at the bar and order a few of the creative and tasty street tacos for lunch, or get the chicken molé enchiladas for dinner. And don’t forget a margarita.
Alibi recommends: Any of the tacos, red chile mango margarita and the avocado toast
Vibe: Friendly, casual and a good happy hour haven

Enter this cavern ... erm, we mean tavern ... and get ready to relax the old fashioned way: drink alcohol and throw around sharp, pointy objects. With refreshing brews, pool, darts and bangin’ live music from local groups like the Memphis P Tails, this the coolest dive with an underground feel.

And finally, the ultimate dish, the Tonkotsu Black Ramen. It comes with a pork chashu, spinach, green onion, Shanghainese greens, fried onion, sweet corn and cilantro, all in a massive bowl with a deep, rich broth. I earnestly don’t know where to start. Dine-out ramen is held to such a high standard, considering the alternative is typically a $0.30 bag that you literally spend two minutes making. This is so high above what I expected that I was earnestly left speechless. This broth is equal parts spicy and creamy, which I know sounds strange but it works unlike any other broth I’ve had before. Conversely, you have these handmade noodles in it that are so fresh, it’s a whole new level of eating that you get taken to by them. Add on all these little additions, and suddenly, it’s not like any ramen you’ve had before. It’s an earnest dish that almost feels like it’s being slighted because of the ramen label. It’s so much more than that.
Alibi recommends: Any noodle dish, earnestly.
Vibe: Modern Asian eatery

Aside from the obvious priority of providing a fine selection of local beers, the customer service is top-notch. We prefer the malty, bready pale ale, the Horned Honey Pale. Make sure to keep up to date on their seasonal beers like the summer 2017 Sour Cherry Wit or Flanders red ale.

Have an award-winning beer or three and wobble on over to whatever food truck is there (which you can find on their website). While the trucks stay until about 9pm, Marble is open ‘til midnight every night except Sunday. Listen to some live bands every Saturday night or grab a growler, six-pack or keg to go if you want to avoid the loyal following this Albuquerque favorite has gathered.

O'Niell's is comforting, a little cheeky and unapologetically Irish-American. The Juan Tabo location offers a gigantic patio and more floor space, but still features old favorites like the Burger in Paradise and fish and chips. And there’s plenty of live music at both locations. Build-your-own Mimosas make O’Niell’s a unique place to brunch.

The new venture by Albuquerque nightlife doyenne Carri Phillis in the Northeast Heights has plenty of different bars for you and yours to relax at on a warm summer evening, and plenty of fire pits for the not-so-warm evenings. Choose from their list of excellent margaritas, get some chickent tinga or pork carnitas tacos to tide you over, or go for a burger with your brews. You’ll love the laid-back vibe and the myriad of bar games (Foosball, ping pong, and beanbag toss, to name a few) offered.
Alibi recommends: Chicken tinga tacos and margaritas
Vibe: Easygoing, with something for everybody.

Happy Hour!: 11:00am - 6:00pm
One of Albuquerque’s “sexiest” venues with topless lapdances. This “gentleman’s club” offers a full menu seven days a week and reasonably priced drinks to go with it. Entrees include chicken, steak and lobster plates, and for only $3 you can build your own burger or chicken sandwich. Swing by and prepare to be entertained. You can always say that you only go for the lunch special.
