Albuquerque's master slam poets converge upon Higher Grounds in the UNM SUB tonight at 7:30 p.m. for Loboslam. The show is free, the coffee's hot and the poetry's slammin'.
The Orchid Ensemble performs its blend musical traditions from China and Europe using modern and ancient instruments tonight at the South Broadway Cultural Center (1025 Broadway SE). The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20 at the door.
The Talin World Market (88 Louisiana SE) is celebrating the Chinese New Year with dragon dances on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 10, at 12:30 p.m. Free!
If you need more literary arts in your weekend, stop by 516 Arts (516 Central SW) on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. Jimmy Santiago Baca, Erika Sanchez and Arturo Sandoval will read from their various creative writing and poetry projects and Latin hip-hop artists Cultura Fuerte will perform. The event is free and open to all ages.
