Bringin' Home the Bacon: Southwest Bacon Fest
Let’s get real. You walked out of that vegan potluck in July because you finally realized that Craisins would never be a viable substitute for bacon bits. You went straight to the butcher for the leanest cut of meat you could find and you haven’t looked back. Congratulations. Get ready to partake in the marbled meat feast known as the Southwest Bacon Fest. Tomorrow, from 10am to 6pm, more than 50 regional restaurants and food trucks descend on the Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum grounds (9201 Balloon Museum NE) to deliver unique bacon dishes; from burgers to cupcakes, tacos to candies, the sky's the limit.
Cooking and eating contests happen in the afternoon; local breweries will be on hand to quench your thirst, and live music will keep things sizzling. For true bacon lovers, the VIP pass might be the best value. Twenty-five bucks gets you into the fest an hour before the general gates open at 11am, plus you’ll get a commemorative fest glass and Bacon Bite Tokens to be used for sampling great food, drinks, entertainment and games. Eat up! General Tickets: $7 for Adults (13+), $2 for kids (4-12), free for 3 and under. Food is not included in the basic ticket. Parking is free, and dogs are welcome too.
