More Tinsel! More Tinsel!: 7th annual Festival of Trees
Christmas is upon us, people. That means it's time to pull out those piggy banks, head to your nearest store or tree outlet, and find that perfect sapling to string some lights, tinsel, ornaments and pictures of family members on. But if you're anything like me, you might need to see some decorated arboles for inspiration. That's where the 7th annual Festival of Trees comes in. Put on by the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, the event features “stunningly decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces,” live entertainment, visits with Mr. Claus himself and an elves workshop.
On the festival's opening day, there's a special tree-lighting ceremony where Mayor Richard Berry will be in attendance. Not to mention: a People's Choice Award for “Best Tree” on the last day of these yuletide festivities. The festival happens at the Albuquerque Convention Center (401 Second Street NW) on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10am to 8pm both days, and Sunday, Dec. 7, from noon to 5pm. And if you're feeling an extra dose of Christmas spirit, head to the Mingle & Jingle Gala tomorrow night at 6:30pm. Tickets for that will run you $50, but the rest of the fest is free.
