Rockin' for Rescue: Cage the Elephant at Sunshine

Shhhh ... Listen carefully—the spiders in your head are whispering that you definitely need to be in the crowd on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for the “Not So Silent Night” concert featuring Cage the Elephant. Teaming up with 104.1 FM The Edge and MetroPCS, the Kentucky rock band plays an all-ages concert at Sunshine Theater (120 Central SW) to benefit the Albuquerque Rescue Mission. Today and tomorrow, one case (or 24 cans) of food can be taken to specific MetroPCS stores in exchange for two tickets. Visit The Edge's online calendar at for more deets. (As we go to press, this concert is sold out, and charitable giving is the only way to score a ticket.)

Not only will you help your community, you'll also get to hear the fun disco-punk jams that Cage the Elephant is known for. Tracks that are sure to be played are “Take It or Leave It” and “Cigarette Daydreams” from their latest album Melophobia, as well as older hits like “Ain't No Rest for the Wicked” and “Shake Me Down.” The night will most certainly not be silent with frontman Matthew Shultz crooning, “Heartbreaks, the heavy world's upon your shoulders/ Will we burn or just smolder?/ Somehow I know I'll find you there.” Eargasms start at 7:30pm with Night Riots and The Burning of Rome kicking things off right.
