Friday, Jan 22: Baewatch • EDM
Baewatch, a couple of electro-wizards comprised of Anthony Torres and Jayson Earles, zooms into Burque on Friday, Jan. 22, for an EDM gig at Effex Nightclub. The Electric Daisy Carnival Discovery Project recognized Baewatch as one of the most important up-and-coming purveyors of electronic dance music of the year 2015. After forming the outfit specifically for the Discovery Project competition, the two went on to be participants in the festival itself, garnering a heap of media attention as well as a horde of new fans.
Baewatch bases their ascendancy on the use of Ableton Live and Native Instruments, but their output is more than the fever-dream of amped up gearheads. Their work, a combination of energetic deep house, quirky instrumental arrangements and glitchy, PoMo Vegas-style dance rhythms, has a deadly and decidedly alluring nuance to it. Whatever the hell it sounds like, its just the thing to have listeners dancing and sniffing on their tubes of Vicks Vaporub from dusk until dawn. Local support includes sets by Connie & Blyde, Pezz and Tsosieology. $10 at the door is required to participate in this 21+ pulsating yet peripatetic event.
