Indie vocalist Dessa, a member of the midwestern hip-hop collective Doomtree, storms the Moonlight Lounge tonight at 10 p.m. Dessa is a mixture of rapper and torch singer; Rift Magazine calls her “equal parts Ani Difranco and Mos Def.” She’s accompanied on her tour by an ensemble of live musicians, led by upright bassist Sean McPherson. Opening up the night are fellow Doomtree rappers Sims and Lazerbeak, as well as local talent Justin Hood.
