Albuquerque Wildlife Federation (AWF) is hosting a free, public outdoor event to commemorate the organization’s founding. The celebration will feature a talk by noted environmental historian and author Jack Loeffler, music, food, games, booths from various local organizations, and many opportunities to enjoy Valle del Oro National Wildlife Refuge.

Concerned sportsmen and naturalists, led by renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, founded AWF on July 14, 1914 to apply conservation principles to the management of game species and to set aside public lands for wildlife and outdoor recreation. In its 100-year history, AWF has been at the forefront of wildlife and wild lands advocacy in New Mexico, working for sound hunting practices, wilderness protection, and ecological restoration.
