Robert De Niro stars as a psychotic rapist who terrorizes the lawyer who put him away. Part of the De Niro Done Right film series.

Sam Bowden is a small-town corporate attorney/"Leave It to Beaver"-esque family-man. Max Cady is a tattooed, cigar-smoking, bible-quoting, psychotic rapist. What do they have in common? Fourteen years, ago Sam was a public defender assigned to Max Cady's rape trial, and he made a serious error: he hid a document from his illiterate client that could have gotten him acquitted. Now, the cagey, bibliophile Cady has been released, and he intends to teach Sam Bowden and his family a thing or two about loss.

You talkin’ to De Niro?

The KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW) upholds its love for Robert De Niro with their De Niro Done Right film series, which continues this coming Wednesday, Oct. 8, with 1991's Cape Fear, in which De Niro plays a psychotic rapist who seeks revenge on the lawyer that sent him to prison. Well-shot and utterly creepy, the film shows at 7pm. The series continues on Oct. 15 with 1999's The Fan, which costars Wesley Snipes. Then folks can look forward to 2006's The Good Shepherd, showing on Nov. 26. After that, the series tops it off with De Niro's heartbreakingly good performance in 2012's Silver Linings Playbook on Dec. 3. Each of these screenings starts at 7pm, and tickets go for $5 to $7.
