Jazz/prog rock/world music improvisors Pray For Brain (Mustafa Stefan Dill, guitars, oud; Christine Nelson, bass; and Jefferson Voorhees, drums) celebrate the start of their 4th year together this month as they return to their original Albuquerque base for a send-off concert of sorts, to celebrate for their upcoming concert tour of India in December. The band is an eclectic mix of jazz, world, funk, prog and classic rock and jazz fusion, with a high degree of telepathic interplay. It has been said that one could imagine their sound by envioning Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Johnny Cash, Isaac Hayes, Tagore and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan meeting on a Calcutta rooftop overlooking Marrakesh with the White Stripes as a backing band for the session. Due to the Indian and Middle Eastern influences in the band’s work (fretless guitar and oud are featured), the group has developed a considerable following in India, with over 10,000 Facebook followers across the globe. The group’s CD None Of The Above was released in April on the 7D Media label which was founded by Trey Gunn of King Crimson. The CD is receiving strong praise in various reviews nationally and internationally.
