A self-guided tour of three artistic, creative "quirky" homes that takes you on a dynamic, multimedia journey of architectural exploration.

Go from being mesmerized by hundreds of thousands of colorful ceramic tiles to having your body shape-shifted and your mind silenced by modern architecture in one of Albuquerque’s oldest neighborhoods, to feeling the reverberations of sound-inspired sculptures in another home and garden.

Artists'/Architects' Homes on the tour include: the prolific, award-winning mosaic and stained-glass artists of the increasingly famous Tile House in the north valley — Beverly Magennis, Erin Magennis & Kyle Ray; Former UNM professor and sound attenuation specialist architect — Berry Langford, now owned by the Bowmans; and eclectic folk/rock musician, contractor, metal fabricator and sculptor Sean O’Connor. Refreshments & entertainment by local musicians at each house.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the following locations:
On-line at, by calling (505) 247-1172 or in person at:
OFFCenter Arts: 808 Park Ave., SW
Bookworks: 4022 Rio Grande Blvd., NW
Sumner & Dene Gallery: 517 Central Ave., NW

Proceeds from both the silent auction and house tour ticket sales benefit OFFCenter Community Arts Project, a local, 501 (c) 3 non-profit which provides a group open studio space, art materials, childrens' art outreach, art activities, exhibits, performances and skill-building workshops in the visual, literary and musical arts to the entire public — free of charge.

The "Albuquirky" House Tour and "Little Houses" Silent Auction is made possible thanks to OFFCenter’s devoted Board of Directors, volunteers, major sponsorship by Maddox Management, LLC and additional support from the following sponsors: Bookworks, Bosque Baking Co., KUNM, Sumner & Dene Creations in Art, Valliant Printing and Whole Foods.

The Tile House—just imagine what it’s like inside.
OFFcenter Community Arts Project

We’ve all done it. You’re driving along on a gorgeous, sunny day and come upon some magical, strangely modern house set like a jewel into a block of Pueblo Revival adobe facades, and you say to yourself, “Ohhh, I wonder what that’s like inside.” Well here’s your chance. Saturday, May 2, from 11am to 4pm, OFFCenter Community Arts Project hosts their 10th annual Albuquirky House Tour fundraiser. Each year three unique homes open their doors to donors for self-guided tours. This year you have the opportunity to explore “The Tile House” of mosaic artist Beverly Magennis, “Wisterious Manor” designed by architect Berry Langford and a metal/sound sculptural space called “High Frequency” constructed by local musician and sculptor Sean O’Connor. Tour some of the more daring spaces in Albuquerque and support community arts programs at the same time. You may just be inspired to make your home a little more Burque quirky. Check out for more information. Tour tickets cost $25 and can be purchased through the website. (Mark Fischer)
