SELF-PUBLISHED/LOCAL AUTHOR FAIR MAY 2 AS PART OF PAGE ONE BOOKS' 34TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - CURIOUS GEORGE APPEARING IN AFTERNOON

Page One Books' next "Self-Published and Local Author Fair" will be held 11:00 am-1:00 pm Saturday, May 2 - in connection with the bookstore's celebration of its 34th birthday and Independent Bookstore Day.

Authors are invited to bring their books to promote independently and sell at Page One Bookstore's Local Authors Fair. The event will take place on Page One's front sidewalk underneath the shopping center's upstairs balcony, weather permitting. Page One will provide tables and chairs.

In the afternoon, a Children's Story Time will be held at 2:00 pm, with Curious George making an appearance. Families can come meet the famous monkey, and take a photo with him. Story Time also will include games and activities.

Page One's 34th Birthday will include other events throughout the day. Exact plans still are being determined. The independent, locally owned store opened in 1981 at the corner of Montgomery and Juan Tabo NE.

Page One Books now is located at 5850 Eubank Blvd NE, Suite B-41 in the Mountain Run Shopping Center (southeast corner of Eubank and Juan Tabo). Fellow bibliophiles, rejoice! For there's a new made-up holiday in town, and its name is Independent Bookstore Day. Page One Books (5850 Eubank NE) also celebrates its 34th birthday Saturday with their Self-Published and Local Author Fair, happening 11am to 1pm on the upstairs balcony, plus other events, refreshments, prizes and discounts throughout the day. Bookworks (4022 Rio Grande NW) is hyping its own three decades of existence with a new loyalty program, a day of author events and a Blind Date with a Book game.

And keep those party hats on. If you can believe it, Saturday’s also Free Comic Book Day.
