Inspired by legends of comedy like Lucille Ball and Phyllis Diller, this play tells the story of two fictitious female comedians, Ellie and Ida.
EllieIda: Two Lives in One Act is the story of two fictitious female comedians, Ellie and Ida. Inspired by such legends of comedy as Lucille Ball, Phyllis Diller, and Carol Burnett, as well as modern day titans Tina Fey and Amy Poehler it follows a young, naïve small-town girl named Ellie as she moves to the big city and joins forces with Ida, a sardonic vaudeville comedian. We then watch the two for over eighty years of their intertwined careers, facing the challenges and adversity inherent with being a woman in comedy. It’s a fast-paced, quick-change, physical show in which Farmin & Frazier play a total of 7 roles (in addition to playing Ellie & Ida from ages 16 to 104), reminding you that yes, women are in fact very funny.
