Celebrate with special promotions and author events in the store.

Independent Bookstore Day draws on the success of last year's California Bookstore Day with more than 400 stores taking part nation wide.

At Bookworks, we will celebrate local authors with Carolyn Meyer and David Thurlo. Carolyn Meyer, author of the new book Diary of a Waitress, Harvey Girls fiction for youth, will be here at 10:30 a.m. David Thurlo, Albuquerque mystery writer, will join us to read from his new book Grave Consequences.

Bookworks is celebrating 30 years this year and we want to honor our loyal customers and event attendees! We will also be launching our new loyalty program, whereby customers can sign up to get a loyalty card that they can have punched at Bookworks events. After one attends 10 events, they receive a 30% discount on a single purchase. We will also be giving away scores of Advance Readers Copies on Independent Bookstore Day. Come by and support local business and bookstores!!

Fellow bibliophiles, rejoice! For there's a new made-up holiday in town, and its name is Independent Bookstore Day. To celebrate, just add some books to your collection from your favorite independent librería this Saturday, May 2, whether it be Bird Song (526 Washington NE), Title Wave (2318 Wisconsin NE), Downtown Books (109 Eighth Street SW), Treasure House (2012 South Plaza NW) or Don’s Paperback Books (1013 San Mateo SE). Page One Books (5850 Eubank NE) also celebrates its 34th birthday Saturday with their Self-Published and Local Author Fair, happening 11am to 1pm on the upstairs balcony, plus other events, refreshments, prizes and discounts throughout the day. Bookworks (4022 Rio Grande NW) is hyping its own three decades of existence with a new loyalty program, a day of author events and a Blind Date with a Book game.

And keep those party hats on. If you can believe it, Saturday’s also Free Comic Book Day.
