An annual food drive where people can donate bags or boxes of non-perishable food and leave near your mailboxes or take to a post office.
In less than a month on Saturday, May 9th, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) joins Roadrunner Food Bank to help Stamp Out Hunger in Albuquerque. Now in its 23rd year, the annual food drive has grown to the largest single-day food drive in the United States, providing food assistance to millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table.
Letter carriers will distribute post cards in mailboxes encouraging the community to participate in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive the week of May 4th. To participate in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive:
1) Fill sturdy bags or boxes with non-perishable food.
2) Leave the bag or boxes near your mailbox or bring to a post office near you.
3) Ask others to participate.
Types of non-perishable food items to donate include canned soup, canned fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, pasta, rice, boxed meals or cereal, etc.
Volunteers are needed to help unload and sort food at 11 post offices in Albuquerque. To volunteer, email candace.baca@rrfb.org or call 505.247.2052.
